Sky Meadow State Park
Sky Meadow State Park is a recognized dark sky location in Virginia for stargazing and astronomy activities.
It is designated by DarkSky International (IDS) as a Dark Sky Park, which is internationally recognized for preserving a dark sky experience.
Type
As a U.S. state park, various camping options may be available, including frontcountry camping, dispersed camping (boondocking), and backcountry (backpacking/primitive) camping. Also, electric bicycles are allowed on all trails (motorized and non-motorized). A permit may be required.
Birding
In addition to being known for its dark skies, Sky Meadow is also known for its birdwatching, with many different species of birds that habitate there.
