Caldwell 46 (NGC 2261) also known as the Hubble?s Variable Nebula is a diffuse nebula located within the constellation Monoceros.

C46 is best viewed during Winter, is magnitude 9*, and can be viewed with large binoculars. It is 2 x 1' in size. For reference, the full moon is 30' (arc minutes) in size.
